BORN FREE CYCLES TOY RUN

Born Free Cycles is having their second annual toy run this December 12, 2014! I am so happy to come on board in the second year! They support the Burbank Temporary Aid Center. The BTAC  has been helping people since 1974. They've been providing support for individuals, families, the working poor, crime victims, senior citizens, & homeless with short term emergency assistance they need to live with dignity. 

I'm so proud to be the sponsor of this Toy Run! We are anticipating to get a lot of toys for these kids, so that they can all open a gift on Christmas day! 

If you're in a car club or you ride a motorcycle or you just want to come hang out with some creative caring people this December 12 ...please just bring one toy. It doesn't have to be big doesn't have to be expensive . You will feel great about it. Please say hi to me I'd love to meet you. I'll be doing a poster signing and free sticker giveaway. BOND GIRL RAQUEL

The Olympics being in Russia so far have been super interesting ! I watched the opening ceremony and I've been watching all the winter sports competitions. 

Before I had my own bail bond agency I worked for many other bail agency's. I got fired from all of them. At the end of the day the last employer that fired me forced me to create & maintain my own business. I found this a blessing in disguise & I'm forever grateful for this experience. 

With that being said let me add, they were Russian. My Russian vocabulary was quite good! I learned a lot about their culture during the time I worked for them. I had already been aware of the many many contributions their country had given the world. My thoughts remember the Russian Ballet, poets, classical music... 

Very educated people, & here in America they stick together and have a specific community.

One thing I noticed was most of their food is served cold. My favorite dish was the soup called borscht ... Very delicious. 

They were thrilled to be in America, & they had no desire to go back to their mother country. 

I hope everybody enjoys the Olympics! 

QUEEN OF BAIL BONDS

This has been a great week of business & pleasure! Bail bonds can be extremely stressful, but when it isn't its just great! I had tshirts made this week & I honestly thought nobody would want them.. I got a great response. I will make a full order & put them at one location so anybody can go get one. RQOB tshirts are always free. 

I'm working on some sponsorships as well. As a business owner it's always the same... Any money I have to spare goes right back into the business. There's a lot to take into consideration with sponsorship. What kind of people, what venue, what capacity... Etc.

This week I also bailed out Soulja Boy. His crew have been clients of mine for a while, but this was his turn! It's always a different situation bailing out a celebrity.

QUEEN OF BAIL

I feel bad when I cannot get someone out of jail, I really do. The number one reason I cannot get someone out of jail is because of no money. The client simply cannot afford the cost of bail. There are other reasons though, such as a parole hold. Another reason is an immigration hold. Other reasons are if a person does not have a permenant address. Anyway, there are so many reasons that could pop up. I can only say I hope conditions get slightly better in jails across the greater Los Angeles area with sheriff Baca now resigned. I will always try my best to get anybody out of jail that qualifies.

Happy new year everyone! I hope you all got thru the holiday safe and sound and hopefully without a horrible hangover that takes two days to feel back to normal. 

The crime rate in the country on this holiday has stayed the same and gone up in some parts.

For those of us that live a life of crime it's business as usual. 

For those of us that do not live a life of crime our only concerns are the occasional one too many cocktail, maybe some weed, at the very worst a traffic warrant. What's funny is both types of people go to jail just as often. I bail out the good the bad and the ugly! 

This year of 2014 doesn't have any new laws that effect us profoundly like the legalization of marijuana in Colorado. But I'm so positive that law enforcement will make huge strides in detecting if one is driving high. Stay ready !!!!! & don't get caught slippin!

One thing I've always had to deal with is parents wanting to teach their kids a lesson. Parents ask me how long they can keep their child in custody before they go to county. I've had parents wait till the next morning to bail out their kids.  Parents will sometimes ask me to present the worst case scenario of jail, bail, courts, & all that goes with it to frighten the kid. I can do that, it's all true. I also get asked to point out that the "indemnitor" (meaning the responsible party) has the authority to revoke the bond at any time. That of course results in being put back into custody & needing to post bond all over again with a full premium charge. 

Typically I don't paint the worst picture to my clients. I do the polar opposite & I am here to help my clients ease thru a difficult time. 

When parents ask me to do this, it's like that old documentary "Tough Love".. I laugh all the way home. I hope it works & that kids never get into serious trouble, hurt themselves or anybody else. Don't get caught slippin!

QUEEN OF BAIL, CHRISTMAS CRIMES

This morning I was reading about crime in Los Angeles. As you know this is one of my favorite topics. 

I stumbled onto the story of the "Night-stalker". This story is so frightening, I was too young to have been affected by it, but I wonder how it made my parents feel.  The crime spree went literally to all the neighborhoods we go to & have friends & family in!  The crime spree of brutal beatings, killings, rapes, & robberies went from Monterey Park, to Glendale, to Burbank, Sun Valley, Glassel Park & East Los Angeles. Finger prints, an old mug shot, and in the end the community is what brought this monster to justice. I'll be forever wanting to meet the men and women in East Los Angeles that apprehended Ramirez. They are forever heroes! 

BOND GIRL at LAX SUPERIOR COURT

Yesterday I had a client go to LAX court in custody from Beverly Hills Jail. People in custody are always heard last. In court, as apposed to jail, a bail bondsman has until 3:30 pm to post a bond for their client. I really needed to make this 3:30 deadline because if not, my client would make the Sherrifs bus to Los Angeles County Jail. Once my client hits that bus... Oh then we have to wait till he is booked into LACJ. This takes 10-13 hours. I'd have to be calling all night till I got clearance. 

My clients case was heard at 2:45 pm. We were nervous about the Public Defender. She was awful, she was like an angry Mom. 

Things went surprisingly well. I told the PD, that my client had strong ties to the community, that my client had over 15 years in the same industry & 10 years of his own business in the same location. This insures the judge that my client is not a flight risk, & suggests that they are not a threat to the community. That's what makes a defendant a desirable candidate for bail or not. The court is looking for two things: one is a flight risk, & the other factor is if the person is a danger to society. I got his bond in without a hitch. My client was happy & home by dinner. He had lost 5 days of his usual routine. Now he can get back to work. He's happy, & that makes me happy. Bail bonds is our constitutional right! Stay ready & don't get caught slippin!

With the direction of Lyrik Entertainment, this organization is gift wrapping a present for the homeless and needy to open on Christmas Day. This is a beautiful thing that they're doing. While we're all sipping on Bailys & Cream, this foundation will be handing out wrapped gifts. The mantra is "everybody deserves to open a gift"... I love these guys. Support or choose your own charity. It's wonderful how many there are. You can check legitimacy on the IRS website of approved charity's.

It's happened many times, people getting arrested by mistake. Sounds like a nightmare doesn't it. I'm here to say it's not personal. Bail amounts are not specific to people. Bail amounts are pre determined by the charge of the crime. My clients have been arrested, detained, have had to post bail, & all by mistaken identity. The most common reason for this is common names. Don't expect an apology. The humiliation, the cost, the time lost, the inconvenience. The courts do not care. The police do not care. Just be happy you have my number & can post bail. This is why it's so important to be aware of your rights. Bail is our constitutional right.. Can you imagine if it wasn't? CRIME IN LOS ANGELES

Every Saturday morning I make a big Ol cup of coffee, & check the crime stats. This time of year I'm sure you can guess what the most committed crime is... Yes, BURGLARY. 

The difference between burglary & robbery is burglary is theft from a vehicle, place, or property. Robbery is stealing from a person.

Thieves assume your car is filled with Christmas gifts of iPads & cellphones and laptops. 

Keep all & any packages out of sight in your cars. Keep your handbags zipped!
