QUEEN OF BAIL at the NOSOTROS MAGAZINE CHRISTMAS PARTY

Last night was the Nosotros Magazine Christmas Party. It was sponsored by Latin Heat Entertainment. The Christmas party brought the whole Latin entertainment industry together with a good cause. Everybody brought an unwrapped toy. The toys will go to inner-city youth and other local organizations for needy children. It was at the W Hotel in Hollywood, which is always really fun and exciting. Lots of celebrities were there from the entertainment industry. Danny Trejo gave a speech & the red carpet was mobbed. It was so crowded you really had to be careful where you stood. The energy was high and the music was loud. The funny part is that I was invited on my own and of course my Mom, an actress, was invited on her own as well. I called her and I said "mom do you happen to be invited to this party, and she said yes honey of course I'm going, I said mom let's go together! "it was fantastic.  Everybody asked about my Dad, a well-known international musician and actor in Hollywood and it's always fun for me when people ask about my parents. As I stated in my last blog, we can't do everything but we can do the best that we can. This is the first of three charities that I've chosen to give to this holiday season. It was so much fun and I'm very grateful I was invited to be a part of the entertainment industry. (that's because I  bail some of them out but I can't tell you who!!!!) Don't get caught slippin!

Today I'm going to Glendale superior court. There used to be municipal and superior, now it's all just superior. I like that word.... "Superior"... Haha!

Last night there were so many festivities in Los Angeles.  Dia de Los Muertos is a celebration of life. Self Help Graphics in East Los Angeles hosts a super fun event every year. Good authentic Mexican food and drink. Face painters, costumes, art, and alters in honor of souls passed. Some of these alters are beyond our imaginations. The music on stage was incredibly good with a great sound system. As great as this event is , & even though it's annual, surprisingly enough there always seems to be parking. We painted our faces, ate tamales and had champurrado . As we left we scored on some fresh churros as well. Police were out in their fancy new charger cars, but even they were in a good mood. How could you not be? Thank you Self Help Graphics for always making us smile & proud.

This weekend I had a gut feeling there would be many DUI checkpoints. And there where. I hope you didn't get caught up in one. The hard part about a Misdomeanor Dui is the fact that it stays on your record for 10 years. No attorney can help you with that.

Last night I got a bond call at around 9:19 pm. Drug possession, $20,000 bail amount. 

The client asked if I would do it for 3%. 

All bail agents are licensed thru the Dept of Insurance. It's basically a government job. The state of California mandates what we can charge. In California it is a 10% premium. We are allowed to go as low as 8% if you are a Union member of have an attorney referral. 

Each bond we write has a cost to us. Just like every other industry business has its cost. We pay our insurance company their own premium charge to us. 

Now I'm writing this so people know how ridiculous it is to ask a bail agent to write your bail at 3%...  Do your math, & ask yourself if you think that's what bail agents get up in the middle of the night and put up $20,000 of their own money for. So that YOU, can get out of jail. 

I love my smart clients that understand this is business, it's not personal.

All of my clients are pretty damn cool & interesting. This week I bailed out an artist who paints flowers on buildings. These buildings are usually for lease or abandoned. Now yes she paints flowers, but let me tell you how..., & why. 

She paints on tagging Graffitti to beautify this random act of vandalism. 

Most people let her, like it and give her carte Blanche!

Even 18th street has given her the "ok" so to speak, & let her do her own thing. 

I was intrigued and loved her story. 

When she came to my office she brought me this. Did I mention I love  my job? Love what you do, do what you love .

I believe in manifestation. I have proven it to myself once before and again on Saturday. 

I have been thinking, dreaming, planing , writing, scouting for my first commercial for over a year. Saturday it finally happened!!! 

It was filmed at one of the oldest jails in Los Angeles built  in 1923.

QUEEN OF BAIL BONDS

This is vital information for people that don't have experience with bail. Bail is basically a small insurance policy. You pay a percentage premium, but your "insured" or bailed out for the full amount of the bail. The bail bondsman insures the court that even if they release you, you will be in court on a given date.

All bail agents are licensed  by the California Dept of Insurance. It's actually a government job. We do not get to just charge what we want. Not higher costs nor should it be lower costs. In California we are supposed to charge 10% or 8% if you are a union member or were referred by an attorney. So if you get these bail agency's that claim to be able to provide bail at an unexplainably low cost, be careful. I've had my clients go to other bail agency's making incredible claims, then once they're in the office, that's when the real deal starts. How cruel, and unprofessional to get someone who's already experiencing a critical time's hopes up. These agency's are operating illegal businesses. Some of them take your cash and you never hear from them again and your loved one is still IN CUSTODY!!! 

Read your contracts before you sign them, and get receipts for all money's spent.  Better yet,call me. Ill take care of you.

Today I had girls day with my mom. I felt guilty not doing anything for my business. I did answer some questions thru email regarding attorneys. Oh, and I did make sure one of my credit card payments to the business went thru. I guess it just shows my business is my baby & I love my baby!
