It's been a busy weekend so far! Domestic violence is the most popular charge that I seem to get on Super Bowl weekend. Honestly I am always, consistently more busy on Super Bowl weekend then I am on New Year's weekend. Be safe be careful and have fun this Sunday, don't drink and drive!

The holiday weekend is here, the party starts now. The number one arrest charge is DUI. There is no bail required on a Misdomeanor DUI. The only time there is a bail amount is when the LAPD feel like being extra punitive. They can apply a 5k bail amount but it's very rare. DUI check points will be everywhere. Illegal fireworks is a different story. That definitely requires bail to be released. Please take a moment to put my phone number in your cell. I'm always aware of the crime stats. It's my job! I just heard on the news on how bad South LA is. I'm there all the time. Sometimes I get lost. 77th precinct on Broadway is pretty rough. Lynwood & Century Sheriff's Stations are in rough areas as well. Depending on what city I'm  coming from depends on how familiar I feel with the area. To be honest I'm super dependent on my cars navigation. One wrong turn & I'm in Watts. Unfortunately sometimes I have to get gas. I never allow myself to feel intimidated anywhere, but this is how I get out of my car. Don't think I'm kidding, because I'm not.  This Bond girl doesn't get caught slippin.

Background checks.... When you get arrested, you get finger printed. That finger print identifies you in the NCIC, or NCIS. Those acronyms stand for National Criminal Information Center, & National Criminal Investigations Services.  These are national data bases that tell you if there are any outstanding warrants on you. Remember this is national. Typically it takes 4-6 hours to clear these systems before I can post your bail. 

On a private and civil note, I can also run your name through these systems in case you feel you may have a warrant, or you need your rap sheet or arrest record.

When you get arrested, you get a court date. That is your arraignment. If the district attorney doesn't file a case against you that day, the DA still has 14 days to change their mind. 

This is really stressful for anybody. 

My client was arrested & posted bail. They went to court & the DA did not file. My client got a letter a week later stating that the DA is filing a case, a bench warrant was issued with a bail amount of $30,000. 

My client called me and I arranged to pick them up, turn them in and take them home. 

When somebody turns themselves in, I actually make an appointment with the local and closest jail. 

Typically the jails prefer to receive a turn in after breakfast and after the busses have taken inmates off to court, & before lunch. This is around 10:40 am. 

Well, I spent 7 hours at 77th Precinct Jail on South Broadway & 77th street in Los Angeles.  There's a lot of down time in bail bonds.. I felt bad for my client having to post bond twice. My client did the right thing, & does not have a warrant & will not get taken into custody from court.

It feels like Friday, but it's only Thursday! Today kicks off a three day event called Ink & Iron Kustom Cutlure Festival. My dear friend Juan Puente is the master mind behind this annual event. It's always at the gorgeous Queen Mary in Long Beach. It has every tattoo artist who's anybody, caberet, vaudeville, art & car show, vintage vendors, and live concert all three days!! Tonight is a private pre party at a secret location. I will be there & I'll post lots of pictures!

QUEEN OF BAIL

The first week of June is here and it started out great.  Saturday night I went to an art opening at the Samuel Freeman Gallery in the arts district of La Cienega. The artists name is Phil Bower. The shows name was "nudes" it was a collection of paintings. I ran into a friend I hadn't seen in ten years! It was D.H. The singer of the Dead Kennedy's! He looked Great! He recently wrote a book called  King of Afro Punk . He's touring with Peligro and he's clean & sober. It showed! I was so happy for him. It was a great night. 

Sunday morning my friends & I went to the world famous Ciros in East LA. If your from Los Angeles, you know about Ciros. It's the best food in East LA. Of course it's a tiny hole in the wall with the best juke box ever. Oldies, to funk to Patsy Cline. A perfect place for a business brainstorm breakfast with great friends!  After a heavy breakfast of authentic Mexican food we really needed to walk, so we went to the Hollywood Farmers Market!! All local farmers organic fruits, vegetables, & baked goods. Homeboy Industries has a booth there & we always support them, this is Los Angeles!!! 

Sunday night I sponsored the MMA  fights at LA LIVE NOKIA! What a night! What a weekend!  I am so grateful for my friends, family, my business & my city!! Now it seems odd, but I'm working on a bond on a Tuesday morning. You would think it would be Friday night. You just never know when you may need bail! Stay ready & don't get caught slippin!!

June 1rst I'm a proud sponsor of the MMA fight night at Nokias LA Live. It's my second fight night with the U of MMA.  I'm used to promoting for RQOB, but today was slightly different. I had a nice big stack of event flyers & posters to place any where I wish. There's always a lot of thought in everything I do & today was no different. I knew I was going to go to a completely different demographic than I'm used to, & I didn't know what to expect. My first stop, PRO BOXING SUPPLIES. Pro Boxing Supplies is on the corner of Laurel Cyn & Moorpark in Studio City. I've driven past it for years. I got a very nice welcome from the staff, they put the event flyers at the front of the shop and took my poster too!  They gave me permission to take pictures and even showed me around. This place has everything for mixed martial arts. I even spotted some pink boxer shorts for women. I really appreciate their kindness & support of the MMA & support of local business. I highly recommend checking out this place. Tell them I sent you! This was the best spot I hit all day!

I'm sure you've heard of an "in store" event... Some of my artist friends & clients do in store events. The artist is there in the store & they promote their album or event, sign autographs & take pictures with fans. Well yesterday I did one with the U of MMA!! It was very exciting! I was the only sponsor of the event invited to participate, & I felt very welcomed. 

Three fighters were were there. Light weight challenger Pious " Voodoo" Enilobobo & top welter weight challenger shohei " Kej Tora" Yamamoto & rising welterweight Ronald Minera were all there at the event. Also the lovely ring girls of U of MMA were there. 

It was great for me to have a moment to introduce myself to the fighters as a proud sponsor because at the fights, they're way to focused to be chit chatting with me. 

The ring girls are always so sweet to me, they're super cool girls in fantastic shape with no attitude & that makes them even more lovely. 

The event was at Best Buys in Atwater/Glendale area on Los Feliz Blvd. Best Buys had the U of MMA Fights on the new curved screen tv which was pretty cool. 

I must thank the U of MMA for inviting me to participate & also thank Best Buys for hosting the event. 

My girlfriends came to support me, which was unbelievable to me. I am so grateful .. Hard work pays off. That's really all I can say!! Thank you!!!

Today's blog is redundant, repetitive, and boring. And it's SO needed.  Today I woke up and casually looked at my Facebook. I had a message saying "I need bail" .... It's not a joke or a hoax. It was a real request for services. It amazes me year after year how technology has eliminated the art of making a phone call. People ask what kind of people are my clients. This is a great question. 

The general assumption is that I deal with major criminals. 

The majority of my clients are from a different walk of life that's for sure! But criminals?, absolutely not. 

I have my gangsters & thugs no doubt, but their "careers" don't last long.

If your hanging out with me there's always a chance of everything coming to a dead hault & everything becoming derailed at any given moment. Bail Bonds is a 24 hour on call career. 

My friends & family understand this. I can't tell you how many times a friend or especially my parents have had to deal with the awkwardness. 

If I'm in my car bond calls come thru my speaker phone. That means whoever is in my car is going to hear the entire conversation. It's funny because nobody ever thinks to ask if I'm alone. I'm guessing it isn't obvious I'm on a car phone.

Typically I never mind a change of plans for bail. The only time it's bothersome is if I've had plans for a long time in advance, or if it's an occasion I am hosting. Can you imagine being invited for dinner & then I need to leave?

I hope everyone is enjoying this day! I went to noon mass. The mass had a 12 piece orchestra today. I couldn't help but be so grateful. With the social media of today, everybody's life seems bigger on line. Then again you get the types that whine & moan everyday. I keep it professional or sarcastic for the most part. 

Today I want to say happy Easter to all. Know that I share the same griefs as you do. Let's stay strong, stay positive & enjoy this day.
