Good morning everybody! As a small business owner I am definitely an advocate of supporting other small businesses. Most businesses need at least a small handful of vendors, I know I do. Raquel Queen of Bail Bonds uses silkscreen printers, vinyl sticker print shops, business cards need to be made, my custom cookie, photographers, and more! Call me old school, but I feel that a conversation needs to be had for business to be negotiated professionally and effectively! I do not think everything can be done through email and especially not text or social media. It's amazing to me that people will say that they are struggling, or need more business, yet they have no work ethic.

If you follow me on any of my social media, you will see that there are a few businesses that I most definitely endorse, and there are some vendors that I always have time consuming situations with. 

The competition in business is fierce. Being honest, having communication skills, and being able to meet a deadline, are your best bets for a successful business! We must remember both vendor and customer, that small businesses are pretty much always under a lot of pressure because it's a small business! There's not a lot of help, &  sometimes there's only one or two people doing everything from soup to nuts. Today my message is ...let's support all small businesses today!  Take the time to find your local coffee shop and not go to corporate franchises. Lets help our communities, and our local economies. QUEEN of BAIL BONDS on LOS ANGELESNISTA TALK RADIO

I was asked by host & founder Ed Solis to do an interview on Los Angelesnista talk radio! I'm always very thrilled and grateful when I'm asked to do any kind of interview! This radio talkshow has had some very great guests such as pro skateboarder's and legendary punk rock bands. I arrived at the studio in Uptown Whittier, and it was amazing and gorgeous! In the front waiting area there was a beautiful koi pond, and some paintings. Then we went back into the studio. I got a tour of the engineering room and I was very impressed it was state of the art! This interview I think was the best interview I've ever done and I'm so excited about it! I think what makes a great interview is the questions asked by the host. Of course I always get asked many of the same questions but after those questions have been satisfied, it's fun to be able to talk about different things! QUEEN OF BAIL at THE 5th ANNUAL DEAF FESTIVAL

This last Saturday was the Fidth Annual DeafFestival at Los Angeles City Hall in our very own downtown. Red Rose Mafia cordially invited me to participate with them this year. The entire festival was for the deaf community. The street in front of City Hall was blocked off and there were many vendor booths with clothing and services, goodies & crafts, everything for and by the deaf community. 

There was even a performance by musicians that were deaf as well. 

Next was the red carpet event and fashion show. The fashion show was featuring designers and models on the runway! The MC of the event was the supermodel himself Nyle Dimarco from America's Next Top Model. 

The event was humbling and beautiful. 

The make up artist's, the hairdressers, the photographers.,everybody was speaking in sign. It was a sight to see. I was able to communicate with people through interpretation and also by just putting my best foot forward. Inside City Hall there was a cocktail reception with hors d'oeuvres and beautiful desserts. If you haven't been to City Hall you really should go. Its a gorgeous historical building with amazing architectural detail. It was a beautiful day and I hope to do it again next year!

It's been a crazy weekend with a lot of Bail Bonds going on! I try to be of service to my clients and I always try to go the extra mile.

When dealing with county jail,  there's always complications and error. 

No matter what county, these huge jails do not run well...

I recently had a client that needed bail out of Riverside County detention Center. Basically Riverside County Jail completely lost my bond! They lost my actual physical bond! They completely lost it. 

I have to handle these situations very carefully.  I have to cooperate and get my client out of jail. 

This is extremely frustrating!  It makes me angry!  Although I must say throughout the years I have gotten much better at handling the situations. 

What gets me, is that unless my client has been to jail, or has bailed somebody out before, they have no idea what's going on. All they see is me not getting their loved one out of jail quickly. 

My client did get out of jail ..not as quickly as I would've liked him too, but he did get out ! He got to enjoy the rest of his holiday weekend. I hope my client understands that we're dealing with jail here. It is very unpredictable and they are not trying to help any of us.

What friends mean to me... There's an old saying that says if you can fill one hand with the count of your friends you're a lucky person. I agree with this! In the harsh world we live in, its easy to say how many people are fake, or phony. In bail bonds it's very easy to think this way. I think it's just as easy to say how many good people there are, loyal people, plain old good solid people.

The month of January has been chuck full of birthdays. I was very touched to have been invited to many birthday parties. They were all very important to me, & I didn't miss one!

In business it can be very easy to try become a people pleaser, but you can never please everybody. It's impossible.. One t shirt will not be for everyone. Same with one sticker, one commercial, etc. Along the way & through the years I learn more & more. 

One of the most important things I've learned is the power of good friends. Always be especially kind to your gender.. This is a man's world, & we must always support eachother, help eachother, & stick together. Together we stand, Divided we fall. 

This week we celebrated my friends birthday.. What an amazing group of professional women. We all knew eachother and we also met some new friends. It was inspiring, motivating & most of all so much fun. A fantastic way to start the year. Let's hear it for GIRL POWER! The modern feminist! Women in business!

I recently had somebody ask me how I heard about a specific art show. I don't remember, but I usually post what I'll be doing on the weekends here on my blog. If you ever feel like there's nothing going on or nothing fun to do, check my blog! 

This weekend was no different! It was packed with events but there's only so many hours in the day.

I must give it to the San Fernando Valley for the East meets West Pinstriping Art Show. We did a lot of things this weekend but this show takes the cake. Obviously a lot of planning & thought went into it. Or who knows, maybe a super cool event happens quite naturally for this rockabilly shop called The 8 Ball. 

We walked in this shop, & the further back you went, the cooler it got!!! Starting with a band from the valley called "Orwells Nightmare" playing a live set. Then there was fashion & shoes and fantastic handbags by Lux de Ville. Then you were in their art gallery area. They had a pinstriping exhibit with paintings, helmets, furniture all featuring custom hand pinstriping. There was even an artist pinstriping right there in front if us. Amazing he could do that with everything going on. All of the art was bad ass! My friend & famous artist Skratch was there & his art, which is always a treat. Walk further back and you found yourself in a little tiki cocktail lounge! It was fantastic. The style & design made this small area give you a special feeling to be in it. Everybody was having a great time & was very friendly. My friends from Born Free Cycles were there & sported my Tshirt!! 

Glendale Harley Davidson had a great event this day as well. A great band, lots of cool people & of course some really fantastic bikes & cars. A big shout out to Andrew for inviting me. They had shaded seating and a beer garden that served ice cold beer on this hot humid day. They had vendors, & some really good BBQ too! 

If there's one thing I've learned in business... It's that meeting people and shaking hands is better than any commercial, radio show, ad or flyer. I love being able to network & have a great time. It's a tough job, but I gotta do it!!!

STREET ART SHOW & AUCTION

My clients are the low brow of LosAngeles. I wouldn't have it any other way. Through the years I've been fortunate enough to bail out a few of the coolest people around. Some of them are in Crews. Law enforcement may call that something else. From artists to taggers the charge is the same, it's called vandalism. One of my all time favorite client cases was vandalism. Needless to say I think it's clear I support the counter culture and all of the arts. 

Last night one of my friends Kym from CBS Crew had a few paintings up at Juliens Auctions Gallery in Beverly Hills. The show was curated by Ash Hudson an artist, designer & photographer. The show was packed and a huge success. 

It was very exciting, with good cocktails too. I was so proud of my friend and very grateful to have been invited.

Being a bail bondsman is not your everyday job. One of the most important talents a bail bondsman needs is being able to recognize crazy. Next is being able to weigh out the pros & cons. When you use a bail agent, the bail bondsman is basically lending you the full amount of the bail. You, pay a premium. It is a small insurance policy. 

I get a lot of calls. Recently I got a call from someone in a county not close to Los Angeles. The client was hysterical & crying. 

So let's see, so far we have highly emotional & far away....

Our next step was to follow up in the morning. I call & get a voice mail. The outgoing message sounded BONKERS. Then, my favorite thing ever.. A mail box that is full. 

So let me go over my pros & cons here...

As you can probably predict, I will turn this bond down. Two or three grand is not worth the headache & potential cost to my business. 

I do care about these clients, & honestly my thought is they may need a medical 

diagnosis.

The Teen Angels Art Show was this weekend. I really didn't know what to expect other than I knew it would be authentic. The address of the show smacked of authenticity right from jump. I was a huge fan of Teen Angel Magazine as a kid in the SFV. 

Me and about 6 of my friends decided to go check it out. It was pretty crazy. The whole Blvd was packed with sick low riders & cruising. There was barely room to walk on the sidewalk, & I actually got anxiety. The store was tiny, but I was able to get sandwiched inside & get a look at the art displayed. Outside there were rad low rider bikes! They got a lot of attention. The event really thought of everything, a taco truck was right there ready for all of us. Highland Park was & is the perfect spot for a great Saturday night. There was a pretty solid absence of cops & no incidents whatsoever. We all went to my favorite spot right there on York Blvd after the show for a drink. Super good times in Los Angeles. Cars, cool cats, art & cocktails. That's the Queen of Bail's favorite things! People were friendly & said hi! Good times in Los Angeles.

Background checks.... When you get arrested, you get finger printed. That finger print identifies you in the NCIC, or NCIS. Those acronyms stand for National Criminal Information Center, & National Criminal Investigations Services.  These are national data bases that tell you if there are any outstanding warrants on you. Remember this is national. Typically it takes 4-6 hours to clear these systems before I can post your bail. 

On a private and civil note, I can also run your name through these systems in case you feel you may have a warrant, or you need your rap sheet or arrest record. 

This service is not free. This service is 100% accurate & I have access and use the same data base that law enforcement uses.

The weekend is over... It was super fun & also a lot of effort. Lots of driving, lines, cost, and walking!!! It's been 9 years of relentless pounding the pavement for RQOB. This is what it takes to build a small business. 

Sunday was the last day of Ink n Iron Kustom Culture Festival on the Queeen Mary. 

My friends & I must have handed out 300 stickers. Of course there was some rejection, and as always some people take my business promotion personally & get all insulted. They assume I'm judging them as a law breaker. For the most part 99% of people are happy to get my sticker & are friendly to me. 

I had a chance to meet Buck from Buck Wild Designs, well known for his work on Pimp My Ride.  Entrepreneur's tend to think the same way & we had a solid discussion about our experiences in business. I always appreciate a business owners wisdom. It's not everyday I get to meet people like that. I had a great day with great friends. I did some good promotions & I can say mission accomplished!!! L.A. LIB Los Angeles Ladies in Business is my latest project. 

It is a support group for ladies in business. We are here to refer business to each other, share advice on branding, marketing, vendors, & more, the list is endless. I will have a special guest speaker at our first meeting we can all learn from. We will all share our business  knowledge  tips & advice & experience to each other. 

I sincerely feel it's time to unite, without a big dollar amount for a banquet dinner in order to join & benefit. I've always said word of mouth is everything. United we stand & divided we fall! If you know a Los Angeles Lady in business tell her about my group, we'd love to have her!

This weekend RQOB was out & about in the SFV.  I have many clients that have been loyal throughout the years.  I am so grateful to these clients. 

The repeat client is always the best right? Well don't get the wrong idea! Repeat clients are not career criminals. Repeat clients are people that have a large circle of friends and a trustworthy comradery. Word of mouth goes very far. 

This weekend my dear friends 311 Bikers had a party. There was a Dj, cold beers, catered with fresh quesadillas and tacos. Asada or pollo, fresh salsa, & cilantro. Awards were given out for best motorcycle. It was super fun, delicious food, & good friends. That's what the weekends are all about. My heart is warmed when my clients think of me more as a friend and want me around. I try to never miss a 311 bash.  We had a great day, and only one arrest. Good thing their bail bonds girl was there!

June is a great month for RQOB ! June 1rst starts out with a bang. MMA is making a lot of noise in the sports world. I am a proud sponsor of the University of Mixed Martial Arts. These fighters are on their way to going pro! To see them fight is amazing. The determination, tenacity and commitment it takes to get here is somthing I truly admire.

UofMMA is a favorite of mine because they provide a top of the line format for these amature fighters to showcase their skills. It prepares them for the big time in a big time way. To fight at Nokias La Live Theatre is very exciting. The stage and fighting cage are the real deal. The MC has the voice! The lights & the music.., it's an adrenaline rush for sure. I am so proud to have the opportunity to be a part of this. It's Los Angeles at it's best. Mark the date and meet me there! I'll have giveaways all night, & I hope to meet you!

Jury duty.... Nobody likes jury duty. The key word is "duty" it is part of our community duty & part of our constitutional rights! My recommendation is to do it! Here are some good reasons to give it a whirl.

Happy Mothers Day to all !!! 

Today is a special day. Most of my clients are male & that means I deal with a lot of moms! 

They care, they bail out their kids at all ages. Moms never stop being moms!
