When you get arrested, you get a court date. That is your arraignment. If the district attorney doesn't file a case against you that day, the DA still has 14 days to change their mind. 

This is really stressful for anybody. 

My client was arrested & posted bail. They went to court & the DA did not file. My client got a letter a week later stating that the DA is filing a case, a bench warrant was issued with a bail amount of $30,000. 

My client called me and I arranged to pick them up, turn them in and take them home. 

When somebody turns themselves in, I actually make an appointment with the local and closest jail. 

Typically the jails prefer to receive a turn in after breakfast and after the busses have taken inmates off to court, & before lunch. This is around 10:40 am. 

Well, I spent 7 hours at 77th Precinct Jail on South Broadway & 77th street in Los Angeles.  There's a lot of down time in bail bonds.. I felt bad for my client having to post bond twice. My client did the right thing, & does not have a warrant & will not get taken into custody from court.

I wrote the commercial, and also spent months scouting the location. I had this vision of my commercial for a year and a half before it actually happened. Again, patience and manifestation, and tenacity!

The jail we shot at is on York Blvd. in Highland Park. It was built in 1923 and is now a museum.
We had a great day on the shoot, perfect weather, great crew. We had sandwiches, snacks, chips, drinks on deck. At the finish of the shoot we celebrated with champagne!!!

Last night I got a bond call at around 9:19 pm. Drug possession, $20,000 bail amount. 

The client asked if I would do it for 3%. 

All bail agents are licensed thru the Dept of Insurance. It's basically a government job. The state of California mandates what we can charge. In California it is a 10% premium. We are allowed to go as low as 8% if you are a Union member of have an attorney referral. 

Each bond we write has a cost to us. Just like every other industry business has its cost. We pay our insurance company their own premium charge to us. 

Now I'm writing this so people know how ridiculous it is to ask a bail agent to write your bail at 3%...  Do your math, & ask yourself if you think that's what bail agents get up in the middle of the night and put up $20,000 of their own money for. So that YOU, can get out of jail. 

I love my smart clients that understand this is business, it's not personal.

HOLLYWOOD BAIL BONDS

RQOB is on Hollywood Blvd. Its a great area to be in. The Blvd is always crowded with tourists. Its always pretty clean too, considering its Hollywood Blvd. There are so many places to go eat, see, and cocktails are abundant. The safety issue is another topic. The amounts of police on the streets are staggering. They're on horse! They are even on bicycle. The crime rate is still healthy. I am very carful around my office, getting to and from my car. I see the police patrolling every block, and there are surveillance cameras too! You still must be super careful in crowds and especially crowds of excited people that have been drinking. I believe in manifestation. I have proven it to myself once before and again on Saturday. 

I have been thinking, dreaming, planing , writing, scouting for my first commercial for over a year. Saturday it finally happened!!! 

It was filmed at one of the oldest jails in Los Angeles built  in 1923.

Here's an old advertisement for my business. I worked for a bail bond agency but always insisted to promote my own name. After all these bail agency's did not pay employee taxes and filed me as an Independant contractor & 1099'd me. Who knew this was a blessing in disguise and basically pushed me into starting my own bail bond agency.

Every once in a while I have to remember the old school ways. I used to hit the streets with my flyers and cards. Today I did that on melrose. Parked at one end and walked my happy ass all the way down passing out my stickers. It's not easy to offer a stranger something. Sometimes they refuse, & your feeling rejected. It's hardcore guerrilla advertising baby!

I don't know why anybody would use any other bail agency, but it happens. Then I get the call asking questions about bail and what it's all about . I don't mind these calls, I'm here to help. My only suggestion is to maybe give the bail bondsman that you used the opportunity to do their job. Ask them, or better yet use my services in the first place.

It's a very bold look into human nature this job. It's amazing how I'm the freedom angel that everybody loves and adores when I'm getting you out of jail. Putting up thousands of dollars, MY dollars for YOU. Allowing and trusting you to owe me money, and then being the bad guy when I ask for it!
People get shitty real fast. People don't like to be asked to pay what they owe. How dare anybody ask for what's coming to them.
